HOCKAMOCK HEAD LIGHTHOUSE Just a short walk from the Wiseman House is Swan's Island's only lighthouse, Hockamock Head. The lighthouse property offers fabulous views of the open ocean and nearby islands. At the lighthouse, you can enjoy a picnic, watch windjammers sail by, lobster boats coming and going, seals playing in the waters, eagles soaring by, and much more. BICYCLING Swan's Island is a great place for biking, but beware, the island has lots of hills. A bicycle is a great way to slow down and enjoy the beauty that Swan's Island has to offer. Pedal through the villages, past coves, along the ocean, to the lighthouse, Fine Sand Beach, lots of great places! HIKING Swan's Island is a great place for hiking. Hikes range from easy to moderate. Trails lead to places like Irish Point, Goose Pond, The Carrying Place, Fine Sand Beach, Otter Ponds, Thunder Hole and many more. SWIMMING: Fine Sand Beach, The Carrying Place and the Quarry Pond are all good spots for swimming. SWAN'S ISLAND LOBSTER & MARINE MUSEUM Explore island fishing and boat building history at the museum located just up from the ferry terminal in Atlantic. SWAN'S ISLAND LIBRARY Visit the newly restored Atlantic Schoolhouse which serves at the Swan's Island Public Library. Books, Videos, DVDs are available.A children's hour is held at the library once a week. The library also hosts art exhibits and a special "Summer Lecture Series" once a week with guest speakers and a wide range of topics. ACADIA NATIONAL PARK/BAR HARBOR Visit one of the Nation's most treasured parks while you are here. Take a day trip to the park and stop by the quaint town of Bar Harbor for shopping.
